RHC-Platform calls for more attention and funding for Renewable Heating & Cooling

After an interesting policy debate yesterday on The role of Renewable Heating and Cooling in the European Energy Policy during the  first Renewable Heating and Cooling Week in the European Parliament, the RHC-Platform issued a press release calling for more support for the development of smart thermal grids and further investments in enabling R&D e.g., for thermal energy storage and recommending the European Commission to dedicate more resources to renewable heating and cooling technologies in the context of Smart Cities initiative within the SET Plan.

Visit Europe’s headquarters for renewable energy in Brussels

On June 20th 2012, during the Sustainable Energy Week, the Renewable Energy House, where also EGEC operates from, will open its doors to visitors.

We welcome you to come and meet the associations representing the European renewable energy sector, ask your questions, attend their presentations and learn how an ambitious energy concept was implemented in a historical building so as to use only renewable energy sources for heating, cooling, and electricity. Icelandic National Energy Authority in cooperation with GEORG will lead an EU geothermal research program with ERA-NET grant program by the EC

Icelandic National Energy Authority in cooperation with GEORG will lead an EU geothermal research program across eight countries with a total grant provided of $2.6 million as part of the Geothermal ERA-NET grant program by the European Commission. The Icelandic National Energy Authority, Rannis and eight European Energy Agencies receive a grant of about 2 million Euros from the European Union to support the development of Geothermal in Europe.

Round table discussion on heat pumps during the RHC Week at the EP

Hosted by MEP Béla Glattfelder a round table discussion “More than hot air: why geothermal heat pumps are essential to increasing renewable heating and cooling in the Mediterranean” will take place in Brussels on 15 May 2012 during the RHC-Platforms Renewable Heating and Cooling Week at the European Parliament. First Renewable Heating and Cooling Week at the European Parliament

From 14 to 16 May 2012, the RHC Platform will organise the first Renewable Heating and Cooling Week will take place at the European Parliament in Brussels. The full programme will include exhibitions on Renewable Heating and Cooling technologies, a policy event and a workshop on Heat Pumps.

The events are being organized involving major European stakeholders as well as representatives from the Solar Thermal, Biomass, Geothermal and Cross-Cutting sectors.
